Dearest Precious Angels-
Today Joshua, Grace, Faith, and I did the Wildland Fire Management Test Merit Badge with Troop 321B/G.
Here's the synopsis:
Thomas Crate, Fire Management Officer with NC State Parks (and Troop 321 leader & parent), organized a Wildland Fire Management Test Merit Badge program at Medoc Mountain State Park. While the weather didn't cooperate for the planned prescribed fire demo, Scouts from 321B & 321G were full of questions for the foresters, biologists, rangers, and pilots from the Natural Resources Program with North Carolina State Parks & Recreation, N.C. Forest Service Halifax and Nash Counties, NC Forest Service Aviation, and The Longleaf Alliance.
Highlights included:
Matchstick Forests demos to explore fire environment factors
Laying water hose
Dozers and fire engines
Drone demo with aerial ignition
Helicopter take off
You all had a lot of fun! I took photos and videos. We all got to sit in a helicopter! Oh, and Smokey the Bear isn't the only mascot of the North Carolina Forest Service .... there's Burner Bob the Bobwhite Quail!! :-)
We were home a little before 5pm.
Sleep tight little ones!
I love you all so much!
-Mommy
